Sister School Trip to Guangzhou
Date: 04/11/2026
The Sister School Exchange for this academic year took place from April 8 to April 10, 2026. Over the course of the three-day itinerary, our teachers and students incorporate integrated science, music with national education.
On the first day, we arrived at Gulong Gorge in Qingyuan. On the transparent footbridge made of glass, students carefully observed the mechanical structure of the wind cables; experienced the micro-resonance from footsteps; and estimated the weight capacity of the floor. That evening, students gathered in groups to purchase simple materials, fully preparing themselves for the next day's science activities.
The second day was the highlight of the trip. In the morning, we had a "Science Innovation Competition". With limited resources such as plastic bottles, trash bags, paper clips and nylon ropes, each group raced against time to build models of simple submarines, perpetual motion cars, parachutes, and microscopes. Students from both schools were actively engaged and demonstrated a high degree of independent learning.
In the afternoon, the students turned from little "scientists" to "artists".
Our school performed songs in English and Putonghua, while the sister school delivered vibrant dance performances. Then we had a chance to learn traditional Chinese paper cutting. Getting a taste of this intangible cultural heritage. After the session, students exchanged contacts, reluctantly saying goodbye while promising to meet again. Clearly, the end of the school trip marks the beginning of friendship.
That evening, we strolled through Yongqing Fang in Guangzhou, seeing how the beauty of the old city is preserved while undergoing urban revitalization.
For the final stop, we visited the GAC Group. We were introduced to the cutting-edge technologies of our country's automotive industry. Such as the latest car models, autonomous driving, and intelligent connected vehicles. Under the guidance of engineers in GAC, our students hand-assembled solar-powered toy cars. This not only further inspired their interest in science, but also a strong sense of national pride.
The trip combined scientific reasoning with hands-on practice. Students were introduced to technology and learnt to appreciate art. Most importantly, the trip not only broadened students' horizons but also strengthened the connections between the two schools.
