Year End Review – 13/7/2018

Good morning everyone,

Today is the last school day of this academic year 2017-2018. Throughout the year, teachers have been working very hard to put our education theme “Enhancing Students’ Learning Capacity and Commitment” into practice. They have led our students to participate in many external activities and competitions and won a lot of prizes. They also organized many study tours this year and some students are going to Inner Mongolia and Malaysia later this month. Thank you teachers, for your concerted effort and students, for your active participation.

This year, our S.6 students got good HKDSE exam results. The average subject pass rate is 99.0%. The average subject rate of attaining Level 4 or above is 68.5%. The top student got six 5**s and one 5* in 7 subjects. I would like to thank teachers for their effort to help students prepare for the HKDSE exam.

The second term and annual exam results have been displayed in the covered playground. Do have a look. You will soon receive your report card from your class teachers. Do have your self-reflection and think about if you have tried hard to prepare for your exam. You should try your best to catch up with your work and read more quality books during the summer vacation. Actually all students should make good use of the holiday, keep a good reading and learning habit and maintain good conduct.

Recently, you may see a beautiful poster NOVA Trail Race 2018 (助苗跑山賽) posted on the display board at the school entrance. Graduates of 1985 are enthusiastic and helpful in organizing this fund-raising event for our NOVA project. Races of 25km and 15km along Sir Cecil’s Ride and Wong Nai Chung Gap, and a 7km hike along Hong Pak country Trail will be held on 23rd Sept this year. I strongly encourage you to participate in the 7km walk. The registration fee is $300 for each participant. The deadline of registration is 24th August, 2018. For further details, please refer to the trailer on our school website later this month.

Our founding teacher Mrs. Chan, our Visual Arts Panel Convener and discipline teacher, is going to retire in the next academic year. Mrs. CHAN not only helps with design and decoration for our school’s big functions, but also guides students through their beautiful artwork. She is devoted to teaching and caring for students all the time. Mrs. Chan has been teaching in our school for 40 years. Thanks for her dedicated effort in the past 40 years of service. I would like to wish her good health and a happy retirement life with her three lovely grandchildren. Mrs. Pang will be the new VA Panel Convener in the coming academic year.

Next year will be our school’s 40th anniversary year and we will have many great events to celebrate, like the launching ceremony on the day of class commencement, the 40th anniversary athletic meet, the 40th anniversary speech day cum parade, Walkathon, Open Day and Variety Show. I would like you all to participate actively in these events, particularly the 40th anniversary speech day cum parade and Walkathon, so that we can show our strength and spirit.

In closing, I would like to thank all staff, teachers, non-teaching staff, janitors and students who have offered us great help throughout the year. Without their help, the school could not have been run so smoothly and successfully.

Lastly, wish you all a wonderful and fruitful summer holiday. Thank you.
