Study Tour to Shanghai Expo 16-20 July, 2010
60 S3-S6 Liberal Studies and Geography students accompanied by 6 teachers, Ms Look WK, Mrs. Hung LMY, Ms Law YK, Mr. Liu WC, Mr. Tsui HM and Ms Chan NK took part in a study tour to Shanghai Expo from 16-20 July 2010.
Shanghai is the largest centre of commerce and finance in mainland China. With historical landmarks such as the Bund and City God Temple and expanding Pudong area, Shanghai has been described as the “showpiece” of the world’s fastest-growing major metropolise.
Through the 2-day visit to different pavilions in the Expo, students could come into contact with the diverse cultures and technological advancement of various countries. While touring the production line in Baosteel Group Corporation in Shanghai, students could obtain a deeper understanding of the development of heavy industry as well as the evolution of a state enterprise into a stock enterprise.
During the 5-day tour, students paid visit to the following:
1. Shanghai newly-renovated Bund (上海外灘)
2. Shanghai Expo (上海世博園)
3. Shanghai Baosteel Group Corporation (寶山鋼鐵廠)
4. Shanghai Museum of History (上海歷史博物館)
5. Coach tour to Lujiazhui Financial Centre in Pudong (浦東陸家嘴金融區)
6. Shanghai Nanjing Road (the earliest commercial street with many historical buildings) (南京路)
7. Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Hall (上海城市規劃館)
8. Xinhua Bookstore (新華書店)
9. City God Temple (老城隍廟區)
