LYY: Good morning, Principal, teachers and fellow students. I am Lau Yuen Yee from 3A.

KEN: I am Ken Cheung from 3A.

LYY: Today, we are going to introduce 2 books to you.

KEN: Hey, Yuen Yee. I know that you love eating and cooking very much. So, which book are you going to introduce to us?

LYY: This book is about pasta. I remember that I made Spaghetti Bolognese in the Home Economics cooking exam last year.  Do you like pasta?

KEN: Yes. Of course I do. They are easy to make and very tasty.

LYY: Then, I am sure that you will definitely love this book. This book is called ‘The Essential Pasta Cookbook’. It is published by Whitecap Books. It introduces a lot of information about pasta. There are 3 sections in this book. First, it introduces the tools for making pasta. It also introduces the type of pasta.  Ken, can you name some of them?

KEN: Of course I can.  They are Fusilli and macaroni.  Fusilli is in a spiral shape; and macaroni, is a kind of moderately-extended, machine-made dry pasta.  I always have them for breakfast.  They are tasty!

LYY: There is some pasta I have seen in Hong Kong. For example, Cannelloni is large tubes of pasta filled with meat or cheese.  The book also includes many recipes for cooking different types of pasta.  Spaghetti Bolognese is my favourite.  The book includes some tips on cooking pasta.  I think I would try some new recipes in my Home Economics cooking exam this year.  Ken, which book are you going to introduce?

KEN: I think we should try some dessert.

LYY: It’s a good idea!

KEN: The title of my book is ‘The Williams-Sonoma Collection: Dessert’.  It is written by Abigail Johnson Dodge.  This is an excellent cookbook. I know that many people love dessert.

LYY: I am one of them too.

KEN: I know that.  In this book, there are over 100 dessert recipes like chocolate cup cakes, New York cheese cake and Cheese scones.  Do you know how to make ice cream?

LYY: No.

Ken: You have to read this book definitely.  Besides recipes, I also find some pictures of the dishes. There are a lot of handy tips for making dessert successfully and healthily.

LYY: Oh!  It sounds great.  Where can I borrow this book?

KEN: You may borrow it from our school library or public libraries.
