Principal’s Message – 14/5/2009
Good morning everyone,
As I have mentioned, we held a successful 30th Anniversary Open Day on 17th and 18th April. The success can be further supported by the survey results. Over 97% of the visitors commented that our reception, our students’ explanation and demonstrations, and the setting and subject contents of our stalls were ‘very good’ and ‘good’. Congratulations! In order to celebrate this memorable occasion, every student will receive a beautiful folder and an admission ticket as souvenirs. In addition to this, the senior form students will also receive a programme bulletin. They will be distributed to you later this morning.
Another happy occasion is that in the Hong Kong Mathematical High Achievers Selection Contest 2008-2009, we not only got the 3rd Runners-up, just behind the three prestigious schools, DBS, St. Paul Co-educational College and La Salle College, but our S.3B student, Lai Hon Kei was also selected as one of the Hong Kong Team members to participate in the “2009 Invitational World Youth Mathematics Intercity Competition”, which will be held in South Africa in early July. Furthermore, our school basketball teams and table-tennis team achieved brilliant inter-school competition results. They have both respectively got the Boys Overall Championship in the Inter-school Basketball Competition and the Inter-school Table-tennis Competition. Congratulations. Let’s give them a round applause for their excellent performance. I would also like to express my gratitude to the following teachers for their dedicated effort namely Mr. CHEUNG, Mr. HUNG, Mr. Alan WONG, Mrs. YEUNG, Mrs. CHEUNG and Mr. LIU.
Yesterday, the announcement about the promotion of the 15th ‘Parents-Also-Appreciate-Teachers Drive’, organized by the Committee on Home-School Co-operation was made. In our school, we have a lot of good and encouraging teachers. If your parents would like to express their gratitude and thanks to our teachers, do get more appreciation cards from the school office for them so that they can write down their ‘thank you’ message and wishes. The cards should be returned to the office on or before this Friday and those cards will be received by your respectful teachers in due course.
Next, we are going to recruit students for preparing the 30th Anniversary Variety Show. You may have meetings in the coming few weeks and rehearsals during the post-exam period. Do bear in mind that you should be actively involved, but you must manage your time well so that it won’t affect your preparation for the coming exam.
Last but not least, Hong Kong has been on high alert to fight against the human swine influenza. We are joining hands to prevent the pandemic. Preparing for the worst, if there is a need to suspend classes, important information will be uploaded to the school website and supplementary learning materials will be assigned through the school’s intranet system. The school has already set the contingency plan to handle the worst situation. We will continue with the precautionary measures already in place and I would like to remind you again to do so as well, paying particularly attention to your personal hygiene and keeping our school clean. That’s what I’d like to share with you today.
Thank you.
