Principal’s Message – 4/12/2008
Good morning everyone,
The 30th Anniversary Speech Day cum parade is coming. This memorable event will be held next Friday afternoon with the presence of our guest of honour, Mr. Michael Suen, the Secretary for Education, and Mrs. Suen officiating at the ceremony. Under Mr. Suen’s stewardship the New Senior Secondary Curriculum is preparing to take its first steps – forever changing the structure of our senior school years.
Speech Day is not only a time to share the happiness of our students’ graduation and achievements, but it is also a time for you to learn from your schoolmates who will be awarded scholarships, prizes and merits. This year, the education theme of our school is ‘Building on tradition, we reach for new heights.’ Can you tell me what the tradition of our school is? To make it simple, what can you tell about our school culture, our school ethos and our students’ achievements?
Our school provides a harmonious environment for study and as reflected in the results of the stakeholder questionnaire, our teacher-student relation is very good. Teachers are willing to help students solve problems after lessons. They are concerned about both students’ academic performance and their personal development. Two groups of our students, a group of S.3 and a group of F.6 students led by five teachers have just returned from their study tour to Mainland China. With teachers’ enthusiasm and initiative, our students were provided with chances to learn beyond classrooms during normal school hours.
Being a student in this school, you should recognize that we have a good reputation for student discipline. You are well disciplined and well spoken of by the nearby residents, and teachers and principals in the Eastern District. I also appreciate your mutual care shown in your school life. Many of you offer help to your schoolmates and show support in interclass competitions.
From the students’ achievements, we can see many students are very keen to take part in different kinds of activities and competitions. With their great effort, they can win a large number of academic and non-academic awards each year. In 2007-08, our students actively participated in various inter-school competitions and gained very pleasing results with a total of more than 100 individual and group prizes.
All these are our traditional strengths. I really hope that all of you can build on our tradition, fulfil your potential to reach for new heights and to pursue excellence.
Thank you!
