“The Return of the Naked Chef” – Liu Ching(3B)

Doris : Good moring everyone, I am Doris from 3B.
Yoyo : I am Yoyo from 3B.
Yoyo : Hi, Doris. Where are you going?
Doris : Hi, I am going to the library.
Yoyo : What kind of book have you read recently?
Doris : I have read a book called “The Return of the Naked Chef”. I borrowed it from the school ibrary. It is written by Jamie Oliver. Have you heard about him?
Yoyo : Yes, of course. He is a famous chef in Britain.
Doris : You’re right. His television series helped embarrass the UK government which finally pledged more money for improving school catering.
Yoyo : Really? What is his book about?
Doris : It talks different kinds of Western style cooking such as snakcs, desserts, bread etc. What did you have for breakfast this morning?
Yoyo : I had a tuna fish sandwich and fresh milk.
Doris : I suggest you have beef, tomato, basil, ham and mild cheese on a thick toast. You just need to make a slice of thick toast, then shallow fry the ingredients and put them on top of the toast.
Yoyo : It sounds very delicious.
Doris : Yeah! After reading this book, I have learnt a lot of skills in cooking Western food. How about you? Have you read any interesting book?
Yoyo : Yes, I have read a book called “Chinese Congee and Snacks” written by Huang Huai Lin. I borrowed it from a public library last week. This book introduces different kinds of congee such as seafood congee and vegetarian congee. It also introduces some Chinese dim sum like turnip cakes, steamed vegetable dumplings and roast pork rice noodle rolls. Have you heard about :Kwangtung style congee”?
Doris : No, can you tell me something about it?
Yoyo : It is a very special style of congee. The basic ingredients are rice, lean pork, pig liver, egg, twisted dough and spring onion.
Doris : Is it difficult to make?
Yoyo : No, the congee is easy to make. I’ve learnt a lot of Chinese dishes from this book.
Doris : I am interested in reading your book. Would you lend me your book?
Yoyo : Sure.
This is the end of our sharing, thank you.
